Where nostalgia and discovery awaits

This painting celebrates Bangalore’s cherished Cubbon Park—a place
of timeless beauty and deep-rooted heritage. Inspired by early
morning walks with my mother, I sought to capture the serene and
vibrant landscape that has long drawn visitors to this green sanctuary,
officially known as Sri Chamarajendra Park. It is a space where the past
and present intertwine, embodying Bangalore’s “Garden City” legacy
and reflecting the lush natural beauty nestled in the heart of the city.
The painting showcases Cubbon Park’s diverse flora and fauna,
featuring vibrant pink Tabebuia flowers in full bloom, the lively Indian
palm squirrels scurrying along the pathways, and the striking patterns
of the common tiger butterfly as it flits among the greenery. In
homage to the abundant birdlife, a selection of native species also
appears within the park’s scenes, inviting viewers to appreciate the
park’s ecological significance. Heritage buildings emerge amidst the
foliage, reminding us of the historical depth that enriches the park.
From the iconic toy train and playful Stegosaurus statue to newer
additions like the leash-free dog park, each corner of Cubbon Park is
infused with nostalgia and discovery. Through this piece, I aim to
preserve these beloved symbols of Bangalore’s past and inspire
reflection on the importance of safeguarding such natural and cultural
treasures for generations to come.
