Bangalore’s green treasure

This painting celebrates Lalbagh Botanical Garden—an iconic, historic
gem of Bangalore that has enchanted nature lovers for centuries. With
roots tracing back to the 18th century, Lalbagh’s 240-acre sprawl has
grown into a thriving botanical paradise, known for its incredible
biodiversity and timeless appeal. This piece captures Lalbagh’s
essence, weaving together its lush greenery, over 1,000 unique plant
species, and the scenic 10 kilometres of paved pathways that make it
a haven for walkers, families, and those seeking tranquillity.
Lalbagh’s many attractions are brought to life here, from the charming
Glass House, inspired by London’s Crystal Palace, to the striking
Lalbagh Rock and Kempegowda Tower, standing as symbols of
Bangalore’s history. Amidst the grandeur, more subtle elements
highlight the park’s ecological diversity: the beautiful Blue Tiger
butterfly, a selection of native bird species including the vibrant Purple
Swamphen wading near the lakes. The Indian flap shell turtle makes an
appearance too, adding to Lalbagh’s rich tapestry of flora and fauna.
Yet, this painting also touches on the park’s quieter, nostalgic side. The
ruins of the Nanjappa Memorial Hall—a graceful structure now
reclaimed by nature—serve as a poignant reminder of the importance
of preserving heritage as time transforms our landscapes.
