The multi-layered artwork begins with an underlayer of the iconic Mangalore roof tiles pattern in reddish soil tones and lush green landscapes. Next, the topography shaped by Gurpur and Netravathi rivers flowing into the Arabian Sea is depicted followed by the intricate street network and local icons. Choosing these icons was the most challenging aspect given the city's rich heritage and diversity. Alongside some of the classic symbols and common birds, the artwork includes some offbeat items including jasmine hair garlands, types of idlis steamed in various leaves, Panjurli headpiece, Car festival chariots, old lighthouse among others, representing the city's vibrant mix of cultures, religions, and languages.
